IF YOU MAKE A VOLUNTEER COMMITMENT- Please KEEP IT! The organizations that have asked for IVY volunteers, have done so because THEY NEED YOU!!!  If you sign up to help and don't show-it can put them in a terrible bind and it makes IVY seem very undependable.

If for some reason you cannot fulfill a commitment, either call Deb Walz, 753-0068 or the contact name listed on the web.
If we get reputation of not being reliable, IVY will not have much of  a future.
If you have any question you may call Deb or GRADE A PLUS.

List of suggestions for Volunteer Opportunities
1.If you love dogs this might be a great volunteer opportunity.  On Sunday, August 22 from 12 – 4 pm the Burlington Regional Dog Park Committee and the Humane Society are hosting a Pet-Palooza/Dog Swim at the new dog park located near the swimming pool in Dankwardt Park.  The event will include contests such as the ugly dog, little dog, pet/owner look alikes, and a dog fashion and talent show.  Volunteers are needed to set up booths and  help with  activities and concessions.

2.The American Cancer Society is looking for a few people to help set out luminaria bags around the lake at GRMC during the Relay for Life on Aug. 6. The annual overnight fundraising walk around the hospital’s lake features numerous lighted bags, which honor cancer patients and survivors.
Local Relay for Life organizers also are looking for  help at their Survivors Picnic, which starts at 5 p.m. To help, contact Kierstan Peck, director, either by email, kierstan.peck@cancer.org, or by phone at (319) 653-3768.

3. Downtown Partners has put out a call for help with the weekly farmers market at the Port of Burlington each Thursday. According to organizer Judy Parks, extra hands are needed to help set up canopies and signs, as well as assisting vendors with initial preparations. The greatest time of need is from 3 to 5 p.m. Parks said she would also appreciate help with a variety of activities during the market, which runs from 5 to 7:30 p.m.
