Serving towns of Des Moines County including Burlington, West Burlington Mediapolis and Danville.
The mission statement of GRADE A PLUS is to raise consciousness and positive attitudes about healthy lifestyles, to mobilize support for nonuse of illegal drugs and responsible use of legal substances and to make a commitment to enhance the quality of life through a safer community.  With this mission, GRADE A PLUS has a goal of enhancing the services that are offered to the community. Our emphasis is on providing education and programs that allows all community members to realize that they impact the youth around them.
GRADE A PLUS programming includes wellness activities as well as substance specific strategies.  It promotes networking within the community to weave health promotion and disease prevention services into the fabric of the community.  By working together, rules and responsibilities are clearly defined so all can promote clear, consistent messages and build a community to encourage and adopt the development of healthy lifestyles, behavior, and attitudes
GRADE A PLUS, in its fight against substance abuse, has adopted the public health model which recognizes that prevention is an ongoing comprehensive process and not a single event or activity.  The model provides for multiple prevention strategies that reach the entire community from birth to death focusing on the agent (reducing supply), the host (individuals), and the environment (the entire community).  The continuum of prevention includes community assessment, awareness, education, alternative activities and influencing social policy.
GRADE A PLUS (Great River Alcohol and Drug Education Alliance, Parents Linking in United Support ) is a comprehensive substance abuse and healthy lifestyles program involving the entire community: families, education, religious sector, police and justice systems, minority, elderly, treatment centers, health care, business and labor, helping agencies, government and youth.....
